Pair of Shelton Staffordshire Pottery figures which feature a lion and lamb, both recumbent on a shaped, plinth base. The lion's tail is swept over it's back. Titled base with purple transfer print reading 'The young Lion shall lie down with the Lamb ISAIAH x10. 6v.' Attributed to John Lloyd of Shelton. Shredded clay forms the lion's mane and tail, and the lamb's coat. Dull gilt decoration to the base and lion. Decorated all round. Vent hole to underside. Similar piece illustrated figure 3027/3028, page 260, Schiffer's 'Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875' Book 2, by A.& N. Harding.
