Description
Great graphical piece by artist Riccardo Dalisi (1931-2022) for Dimensione Fuoco, San Donà di Piave, Italy. This Italian company produced high end fireplace accessories in the latter part of the twentieth century. Designers and artists like Dalisi and Afra and Tobia Scarpa worked for the company. This Dalisi fire screen is simple but very stylistic and is reminiscent of works by the Memphis movement. Later on in the nineties Dalisi made similar pieces for Zanotta. Dalisi played an important role in post war Italian design and designed playful and poetic pieces for various makers. His work is ‘anti design’ and he was a big advocate of bringing back imagination and creativity in product design. Together with Alessandro Mendini, Ettore Sottsass and Andrea Branzi he started the Global Tools movement in 1973. Those pieces can be found in several museums like the Centre Pompidou in Paris. His pieces are as much art pieces as usable products. Wrought iron, 1984. In very good condition.
