Scandinavian 19th Century Dome-Top Trunk

Made in Scandinavia around 1870, this dome-top trunk is of slightly smaller proportions than usual, which adds to its versatility. The domed lid is a traditional feature of travelling and storage trunks, and the compact size makes this example easy to place. Trunks of this kind were used for the storage and transport of textiles and household goods, and surviving pieces are valued for their form and patina.
