Set of 9 19th Century Scottish Carpet Balls
-
Description
Known to the Scots as “piggies”, this beautiful set of 19th century carpet balls were used in a game played on…carpet. Scottish homes would often have these near the entrance, in case a guest wants to play a quick game. They are usually made of ceramic stoneware and painted with colorful designs and details. The game is similar to that of English Bowls, only played indoors, and in Scotland.
