French 19th Century Marble Column Pedestal

A fabulous late 19th century carved marble display pedestal from France, to elevate precious artwork, décor, or greenery in your interior. Geometric elements distinguish the capital and base from the smooth roundness of the columnar shaft. By the artist’s hand and tools the white stone with gray veining has been shaped to subtle rings around the circumference as the pillar widens from the top to the base. The abacus (the flat top surface) is shaped as a square with chamfered corners, echoed below by the octagonal plinth. Evidence of time & use includes scratches, small edge chips and subtle changes in the tone of the marble which has been gently cleaned to appreciate the natural characteristics. We believe this item to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
