Sonia Delaunay was a foundational figure in the early 20th-century international movement that dissolved the boundaries between fine and decorative arts. This revolutionary philosophy—most famously crystallized by the Bauhaus in 1919—promoted a unified approach to painting, performance, and industrial design. Delaunay applied this vision to entire environments, seamlessly integrating textiles and fashion into her artistic practice.
Her dynamic process is perfectly captured in the "1930" rug, where bold, geometric forms collide with a high-contrast palette. While the original resides in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, this piece belongs to a prestigious edition of 100 authorized and hand-signed by the artist in 1970. Today, works from this limited series are exceptionally rare to find on the market. - More Information
