Description
Late 19th century sterling silver tableware decorative fruit bowl with gold wash interior by the Whiting Manufacturing Company, finely decorated with an elaborate floral design to the exterior. The repoussé and chased floral motifs wrap elegantly around the bowl, showcasing the high level of craftsmanship and ornamental detail for which Whiting is renowned. The interior is finished with a rich gold wash, providing a warm contrast to the silver and enhancing both its visual appeal and functional purpose.
Graceful in form and decorative yet refined, this bowl reflects the aesthetic sensibilities of the late 19th century, combining naturalistic floral ornamentation with elegant proportions. It is well suited for use as a fruit bowl or as a decorative centerpiece, equally striking when displayed on a dining table, sideboard, or vitrine.
Measures approximately 4 1/2 inches in height with a 10 1/2 inch diameter, and weighs around 20 ounces. In good condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use. A fine and collectible example of American sterling silver from one of the most respected silver manufacturers of the period. -
