Description
fitted with red cabochon eyes, the vintage Arthur Court aluminum whale-shaped ice bucket, wine cooler or tureen comprised of a base and cover; all resting on a matching stand consisting of swimming calves; stamped to underside;
Arthur Court (1928-2015) was a renowned California designer known for his nature-inspired, whimsical metalware, especially cast aluminum tableware, blending his love for the outdoors (Minnesota childhood) and world travels (WWII Navy service, African safaris) into designs featuring animals, plants, and exotic forms, starting his eponymous design company in San Francisco in 1966 to bring affordable luxury and art to everyday dining. -
