Description
Arthur Umanoff Midcentury Carved Wood Salad Set, Bowls and Serving Utensils
Offered for sale is a rare midcentury modern Arthur Umanoff hand-carved salad set including a large bowl, small bowls, and serving utensils. This rare sculptural set is carved from Taverneau wood.
From his biography; "All of Umanoff’s designs were centered around the belief that design should not just be beautifully constructed and functional, but attainable. Umanoff created versatile designs for the home that were celebrated for both their quality (thanks to natural materials and new methods) and for their simplified, functional forms that outlast trends."
Many of his designs were imagined in wrought iron, rattan, walnut, and birch, sprinkled with functional details that remained naturally elegant thanks to slender, tapered lines.
"His designs and the materials he used are still really prominent today,"
The large bowl measures 18.5" x 8" x 5".
The smaller bowls measure 10" x 3" x 2"
The spoon and fork serving utensils measure 3" x 12.25" x .625"
NOTE: The bowls are intact and there are no nicks, scratches, cracks, or deep utensil marks (see photos). Any slight wear is commensurate with their age and usage. -
