Description
Early Chinese Export porcelain armorial plate, the center painted with the arms Curzon, the border with underglaze blue flower and trellis decoration with gilt accents. See David Howard, "Chinese Armorial Porcelain" Vol 1, (1974) p. 173.
This plate is from the first generation of armorial services made for the English market. Of the 3,325 armorial services classified by David Howard, only 57, or 1.7% fall within this category of 'underglaze blue' decoration, which was in vogue from 1695-1735. -
