Description
Dorothy Thorpe was an influential American glassware designer and entrepreneur, best known for her iconic silver band glassware designs. Her breakthrough came with the creation of the distinctive "Roly Poly" glasses, featuring the wide silver band around the rim, which became wildly popular in the mid-20th century. Her creations adorned the tables of Hollywood stars and were featured in prestigious establishments across the country. The shown drinks set stands out from Thorpe's renowned silver band designs, as it showcases a rare 22k gold band, adding to the uniqueness of this particular glass and pitcher set.
Thorpe was first and foremost a pattern designer who would source “blanks” from American glassware manufacturers, onto which she would apply her famed designs. This 22k gold painted rim drinks set is in near new condition and truly embodies the elegance Thorpe is known for. The set includes four petite roly poly glasses and a pitcher with a hand-blown handle attached only at the bottom, creating an elegant and airy appearance at its top. While visually striking, this set is most appreciated while in use. Whiskey, punch, sangria, holiday nog; the options are limitless for any inspired soirée.
