Description
George Jones Majolica game pie dish which features features a partridge on a nest of grasses and ferns, with seven chicks. One chick is sat on its mother's back, and another is tucked under her wing. The dish with grazing rabbits to the sides. Turquoise ground version. Colouration: turquoise, green, yellow, are predominant. Bears a pattern number, '3368'. English diamond registration mark for the date 17/12/1873. Similar piece illustrated on front cover, 'The Collectors Encyclopedia of Majolica' by Mariann Katz-Marks. Also illustrated figure 81, page 55, Schiffer's 'George Jones Ceramics 1861-1951' by Robert Cluett.
