Sterling silver centerpiece bowl by International Sterling and designed by Alphonse La Paglia in mid-century modern Jensen style from 1952 with exquisite floral and geometric-shaped designs. It measures 10'' in diameter by 5 3/4'' in height and weighs 30 ozt.
The International Silver Company was formed in 1898 by various independent New England silversmiths that, between 1898 and 1903, joined themselves together to form a company that became the world's largest manufacturer of silverware. The International Silver Co. was organized with an authorized capital of $20,000,000.
Alphonse La Paglia (1907-1953), a Sicilian-born silversmith who studied and trained with Georg Jensen, designed this special line for International Sterling in 1952, for only 1 year. -
