International Silver Co.
American, 1898
International Silver Company was an American silverware manufacturing company that was founded in 1898 through the merger of several smaller silver companies.* The company was headquartered in Meriden, Connecticut, and quickly became one of the largest silverware manufacturers in the world.
International Silver Company produced a wide range of silver products, including flatware, hollowware, and tableware. They were known for their high-quality craftsmanship and innovative designs, and their products were popular among both individual consumers and large institutions.
In the early 20th century, International Silver Company also began producing silver products for the military, including mess kits and other equipment. During World War II, the company's production was largely focused on military contracts, and they produced a wide range of silver products for the war effort.
International Silver Company continued to operate until 1983, when it was acquired by Insilco Holding Company. Today, products produced by International Silver Company are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts of antique silverware, and the company is remembered as one of the most important and innovative silverware manufacturers in American history.
*The international Silver Company was formed in 1898 by various independent New England silversmiths that joined themselves together to form a company that became the world's largest manufacturer of silverware.
