Description
This exquisite, beautiful and rare French silver vermeil coffee and tea service was crafted by one of the most celebrated goldsmiths in Paris. Fashioned in the exquisite style of the Second Empire, this five-piece tea and coffee service is crafted from solid silver with remarkable details. The set comprising of a Teapot, Coffeepot, Covered sugar and a milk pitcher, all of a baluster form with an extensively engraved and chased with Louis XIV / Regence style strapwork designs in the manner of Jean Berain the Elder (French 1640-1711), together with the matching shaped rectangular serving tray with gadrooned edges similarly gilded and engraved en suite, all pieces except the tray with French Minerva marks for 950 to bases and flanges, the bases additionally struck "Boin-Taburet / A Paris" and with various pattern marks 80266 55 ( coffee pot) 80211 55 (teapot), 80367 55 ( covered sugar), 80368 55 ( milk pitcher), and with various scratched inventory marks, the tray also bearing the Parisian retailers 'mark of Henry et Fils. Every piece is in great condition. Minor wear.
