Description
A distinctive Burleigh Ware ceramic pitcher, made in England in the mid-20th century, showcasing an imaginative sculptural design inspired by water birds. The vessel features a gracefully modeled heron with an elongated, curved neck, a finely detailed head, and delicately rendered plumage that forms an integral part of the handle. The body is finished in beautiful shades of green, with a rounded, ribbed surface accented by horizontal bands that create depth and texture. Contrasting orange details on the beak and legs, together with dark green feather markings, add character and visual interest to the composition. The sculptural bird motif and richly glazed finish exemplify the playful, decorative approach found in English ceramic design of the period. Measuring 9¾ inches tall by 6 inches in top diameter, this eye-catching piece can serve as a decorative pitcher, a vase for floral arrangements, or an ornamental accent in a traditional, country, or eclectic interior. It is also an appealing addition to a collection of English pottery and figural ceramics.
