Description
This elegant pair of late 20th-century Italian torchiere lamps features tall, slender architectural columns crafted from black-painted wood and embellished with delicate gilt decoration. Inspired by Neoclassical design, the pair is distinguished by harmonious proportions, classical ornamental motifs, and a sophisticated black-and-gold palette. Each square stepped base features a decorative central panel adorned with crossed floral garlands, while the column shafts are embellished with finely painted gold ribbons, floral swags, and ornamental borders. Gilt accents further highlight the molded edges, decorative capitals, and architectural details.
Each lamp is crowned by an elaborate gilt-metal four-light candelabra fixture, featuring gracefully curved arms, scrolling terminals, and decorative foliate and grape-cluster motifs. The candle-style sockets enhance their classical character, recalling traditional European candelabra and antique lighting designs.
Italian in origin and dating to the late 20th century, this decorative pair combines architectural elegance with ornamental craftsmanship. Each lamp measures 31 inches in height, with a square base approximately 5.4 by 5.5 inches. Ideal for placement on matching console tables, flanking a fireplace, or framing an entrance or living room, this distinguished pair brings symmetry, warmth, and timeless European elegance to a traditional or classically inspired interior. The pair is in good condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use. -
