Description
A sophisticated Art Deco tazza (footed compote) by the celebrated French silversmith Puiforcat, exemplifying the maison's signature marriage of geometric restraint and luxe materials. The wide, gently flaring bowl sits atop a pedestal built from crisply turned, stacked silver rings — a hallmark of Puiforcat's Deco output — interrupted by a cylindrical section finished in rich cobalt-blue enamel (or lacquer), a device the house used to striking effect across its tableware and centerpiece designs of the period. The stepped, disc-form foot echoes the ringed banding of the stem, grounding the piece with the same architectural clarity found in Puiforcat's work from the 1920s–30s under the direction of Jean Puiforcat.
Stamped maker's mark, "Puiforcat France," to underside of foot
The bowl's interior is polished to a mirror finish, while the exterior and base carry a warmer, softly burnished tone. The underside bears the maker's mark for Puiforcat, France. A refined table centerpiece or catchall, equally suited to a Deco interior or as a graphic counterpoint in a more eclectic setting. - More Information
