Description
Serge Mansau decorative large bronze dish or vide poche produced by French company Art du Bronze by Monique Gerber.
Highly polished bronze interior with high relief sculptural underside. The intentional irregular edge makes this vide poche more sculptural than most. Very rare.
Numbered 268/900.
Serge Mansau (1930–2019) was a multifaceted artist and designer: the bottle designer, working within the specific parameters established for a particular brand and fragrance; the artist, creating giant bronze sculptures and numerous three-dimensional works that reveal a universe imbued with wonder and humor; the innovative researcher, who experimented with the properties of glass and *pâte de verre*; and, finally, the collector, who gathered and archived his own work throughout his career. 8.5” diameter x2.5” h

Pavilion is the collective vision of Deborah Colman and Neil Kraus, both graduates of the master of fine arts program at the Art Institute of Chicago. From a longstanding interest in art and design, frequent buying trips to France and Italy have influenced the direction of the gallery to offer items that are not easily sourced in Chicago and United States. Postwar design has been the focus for 18 yrs and we also look forward to new design that crosses boundaries and dialogues as well to the past
