Pair of Colonial Revival sterling silver Jefferson cups. Made by Stieff in Baltimore, ca 1950. Each: Curved form with flat and stable bottom. The traditional form attributed to Thomas Jefferson. In original leather-bound case with fitted velvet decorated with red, white, and blue bands. Hinged covers have silk lining gilt-stamped with maker’s stamp and profiles of Jefferson and his wife Martha, who died during the Revolution in 1781, two years after her husband was elected governor of Virginia.
Fully marked including maker’s stamp, no. 0709/16, and phrase “Jefferson Cup”. Very good condition.
