Description
Functional art, collectible design 'Bowl' sculpture by Thomas Ballouhey 2018.
At first impression, this bowl could be an artefact or remains from another time. The materials and tools needed to execute the piece are, on the contrary, closely related to our 21st century and what it has to offer us.
Made from industrial raw material and usual commodities, the Bowl is petrified in a thick layer of Sand and PVA glue. Using a rather rudimentary technique, the objects from the series "Ways of Altering", transforms readily available materials of our modern society into abstract shapes that could have emerged from a fictional world. Inviting us to imagine a landscape of objects that could have been if our history took an unexpected turn at one point or another. -
