Wim Fiege Mid-Century Modernist Studio Pottery Bowl, 1950s

$ 350
  • Description
    Wim Fiege Mid Century Modernist Studio Pottery Bowl, The Netherlands, 1950s.

    This is a wonderful ‘Engobe’ pottery bowl made by Dutch artist Wim Fiege (1914-1978). He used engobe slurry as a way to give his works a distinct decoration.

    ‘Engobes itself are slurries that are applied to hard or dry ceramics and fire opaque. They are used for functional or decorative purposes.’

    It’s a quintessentially mid-century piece of studio pottery with very elegant and stylish decoration. A wonderful little bowl for display on a desk, sideboard or in a display cabinet.

    In good vintage condition, signed at the base.
