Mathieu Matégot “Manhattan” Tapestry
Mathieu Matégot, a Hungarian-born artist with a passion for design, explored various creative avenues throughout his career. Initially drawn to painting, he later delved into shopkeeping, decoration, and even fashion. In the late 1930s, Matégot discovered a new artistic passion: tapestry.
His tapestries, known for their bold colors, dynamic lines, and abstract compositions, continue to captivate viewers with their contemporary feel. Matégot’s influence is evident, with his works gracing prestigious buildings worldwide. This stunning tapestry, “Lumière sur l’Inconnu” (Light on the Unknown), exemplifies his artistic ingenuity. -
