Description
Pair of oval Antique Georgian Silkwork Embroidered pictures depicting a shepherd and shepherdess in a country scene. The embroidery is worked in silk on a silk ground, with painted details on the ground. Colours browns, cream, green, pink, blues and grey. Wonderfully stitched scenes - the shepherd holding a crook, sat beneath a tree, his sheep in the foreground and a cottage in the background. The shepherdess is similar, with a picnic basket beside her. Framed in an old, gilded, gesso frame with rippled, old glass.. Dimensions exclude the frame and slip.

Origin: England Period: 19th Century Condition: Good. The embroideries are in very good condition. The frames are in fair condition. Frames with visible splits where original joins are present from the making, but they are sturdy. Also showing some wear. Enamel under the glass has flaked away.
