Alexander Markovich "Untitled No. 21" Circa 1985
-
Description
This beautiful ink on paper work was realized by the renowned American artist Alexander Markovich circa 1985. Using Markovich's uniquely expressionistic style, the artist's renders a solitary figure in "hieroglyphic form" seemingly "frozen in space and yet at the same time non existent", in the words of Markovich scholar Svetlana Rakic. The intentional ink splatters (suggestive of a Jackson Pollock) imbue the piece with a dynamic energy, while the wispy brush strokes recall ancient Japanese scroll painting. With its monochromatic palate and timelessly modern sensibility, this piece would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Mid Century Modern to contemporary. The piece is documented on page 64 of "Alexander Markovich: A Journey Towards the Divine" and comes presented in a custom gilded gallery frame.
