Early 19th Century Romantic Portrait
-
Description
This is a moody portrait, possibly self-portrait, by a very competent early 19th century romantic artist. The intense gaze of the subject holds the viewer's attention and brings him into the story of the painting. The work is very well-painted, but unfortunately, it is not signed. There is a gallery stamp on the back of the canvas. Unfortunately, the painting has not retained its original frame and we have chosen not to reframe it.
