Description
This colorful American Impressionist view of Venice is by contemporary artist Leif Nilsson of Chester, Connecticut. The painting is entitled on the reverse as "Venice I". It is one of several views of Venice he made while on a painting journey through Europe. Nilsson is famous for catching the light at different times of the day at the same locale, using short, expressive and bold brush strokes. He also made the frame in his studio for this painting, as he does for all his paintings. The mellow gold frame compliments the colors of his Italianate palette.
This painting is #1590 in his own catalog of works, and is done on a 9.25" x 13.25" panel. The overall size including the 3" frame is listed above.
in The painting is signed on the lower right "L Nilsson". On the reverse side there is a small white label with further information as you can see in the photograph. Also on the reverse side, there is a minor tear in the paper backing of 1/5" near the center. The painting and frame are in fine condition. -
