The Portal Triptych is an abstract view through this portal-like structure, providing a window into an unique textural environment. In part Andrea’s objective in curating an intricate surface stemmed from the use of exotic materials. Pygora fiber, which is produced from the Pygora goat (a cross between Pygmy and Angora), known for its high lanolin content and suppleness enhanced the natural assimilation of encaustic and resin. Andrea came across the fiber through a friend and farm raiser located in Topanga Canyon, California. Their exchange between Andreas’s dye sublimated silk and Pygora fiber allowed for the Portal Triptych to take shape.
