In Andrea’s Spring Break Diptych the subtle cream, light blue, and purple tones lay the base of the piece, setting a cooler tinge to the work. The geometric black squares and magenta pole breaks the smooth ethereal calmness of the painting, making for a gutting yet beautiful divergence. Within the layers of torched and ironed encaustic wax and oil, one feels the seminal break between seasons.
