17th century bucolic landscape painting with figures, pastoral scene
-
Description
Roman school of the second half of the 17th century. Oil painting on canvas depicting a wonderful pastoral scene with figures and animals at the fountain. In the center of the painting we find a young washerwoman next to some ruins, an ancient fountain from which cows and sheep drink. On the right appears a man riding a splendid donkey while a dog accompanies him. The type of composition, the naturalistic but idealized rendering and the treatment of light recall the Italian landscape painting of the late seventeenth century. Scenic 19th century frame in carved and gilded wood, with some signs of aging. Painting already restored with relining, replacement of the frame and repainting of the color in small spots, overall in good condition. Painting that is part of a pair (see photo and ask for the price of the pair if still available). Interior size H 57.5 x W 76 cm.
