Great 18th-century architectural capriccio with figures. Painting oil on canvas painting depicts an evocative architectural capriccio with ruins, enlivened by elegant figures in oriental costume that accentuate the exoticism of the scene. The main structures evoke ancient classical buildings, arches and niches with statues, domes, and temples of Roman and medieval origin.
The composition is distinguished by its refined scenographic rendering and its ability to blend fantastical architecture with theatrical atmospheres, typical elements of the Venetian school of the first half of the 18th century.
