ANTONIO NICOLO GASPARO JACOBSEN (1850-1921)
Lived/active: New York, New Jersey, Denmark.
The Seminole.
Signed and dated, (l.r.) Antonio Jacobsen, 1916.
Oil on board.
16” x 23 ½”, 22 ½” x 30” with frame.
Over-all in great condition, minor touch-ups in sky.
One of America’s best known and prolific painters of marine art, Antonio Jacobsen created over 6,000 ship portraits in the New York Harbor between 1876-1919. After studying at the Royal Academy of Design in Copenhagen, he emigrated to New York in 1871. -
