about Nature morte au vase
This still life oil painting by French artist Claude Venard uses some of the techniques of Cubism to create a partially fractured scene.
None of the objects - the teapot, cup, plate, etc - are shown with perfectly defined edges but are instead broken up into harsh segments of different colors and of light and dark. What should create a sense of disjointment instead comes together to form a tableau of a table just laid out for breakfast, lit brightly by the morning sun. Provenance: Galerie Felix Vercel, New York. -
