Description
This work is from the Subway Series that depicts the raised safety strip found along the edge of the platform in the NY Subway system. The artist represents the strip as an abstracted element inviting the viewer to visually 'feel" the work by using the trompe-l'œil technique and adding the vertical track rail echoing Barnet Newman's abstract expressionist zip from the 1950s.
