This wonderful seaport painting is by Jan Simon Knikker Jr. (Dutch, 1911–1990). Knikker was a prolific painter of the Hague school. Judging by the subject and age of the canvas this wonderful depiction of an industrial dutch port is from the 1960's. There is a signature in the right hand corner. The wooden frame is painted in two tones of creme that compliment the subtle allure of this piece.
