French 19th Century Oil on Canvas Framed Still-Life Painting Depicting Fruits
-
Description
A French oil on canvas still-life painting from the 19th century, depicting fruits and set in giltwood frame. Created in France during the 19th century, this oil painting depicts a careful arrangement of mouth-watering grapes, pears and apples. The fruits, displayed in a wicker basket in the background contrasting beautifully with the white bowl in the foreground, receive all the light coming from the frontal left. Standing out on the neutral brown toned background, the scene is perfectly balanced, while its diagonal created by the fruits falling from the white bowl gently leads the eye throughout the composition. Signed Gardes lower left and set within a giltwood frame, this 19th century still-life oil on canvas painting will enliven any wall, perhaps hung above a commode, buffet or side table.
