Great 18th century painting, portrait of a young princess
-
Description
A splendid portrait painting of a noblewoman from the first half of the 18th century. Painting oil on canvas depicts a young aristocrat standing before a Baroque throne, using a pictorial language reminiscent of French and Austrian official portraiture. The young woman wears a sumptuous pearly white gown decorated with precious gold embroidery and a full, beautifully flowing blue cloak. With her left hand, she points to a crown, a nod to her princely rank, resting on a spectacular carved and gilded table. In the background, behind the large drape that serves as a curtain, we glimpse a classical-style colonnade. The face has childlike features, making the painting even more valuable, as portraits of young princesses are the rarest and most sought-after on the antiques market. This large, life-size painting is ideal for a grand reception room or a luxury hotel lobby. Its dramatic presence combined with the nobility of the subject makes it perfect for enhancing exclusive settings. 20th-century carved and gilded wooden frame, with some signs of aging. The painting has already been restored with re-lining, replacement of the stretcher, and recoloring in some areas. Overall in good condition. Internal size: H 164 x W 119 cm.
