Description
Framed oil on canvas board by Guy Carleton Wiggins (1883–1962). Wiggins was an American impressionist painter known for his painting of street scene of New York City in snow. The painting on offer is titled 'Yuletide on Fifth Avenue". It depicts a snow day during the Christmas season Around a large fountain on Fifth Ave. Signed on the lower left front. Titled and signed on the back. The measurement for the canvas board only is 13.75" x 10".
Although the framing appears from the period (the frame was branded Made in Italy), the painting was from an estate collection, whereas no paperwork could be located. It has not been officially authenticated therefore it is sold as attribution out of plenty of caution. Please consult your art advisor or expert of your choosing before purchasing it. -
