A striking Japanese mid-century two-panel lacquer screen depicting layered mountain silhouettes reflected across still water beneath a glowing sunrise. Rich lacquer pigments create remarkable depth and luminosity, with warm amber and copper tones contrasting against dramatic black forms to produce an almost abstract landscape. Executed on a lacquer core with exceptional craftsmanship, the composition balances traditional Japanese scenery with a distinctly modern aesthetic. Signed Nihon Dento and created by a member of the Kogeishe (Registered Artisan Guild), Japan, circa 1950.
