Description
Edo period (18th century) painting of a flowing array of various types of chrysanthemums painted on beautifully faceted heavy gold leaf and behind afinely painted fence. Petals of the chrysanthemums are rendered in raised gofun. This screen has the true essence of Rimpa painting. Beautiful signature in vermillion is difficult to read, but appears to read Shisei Takatsune.
