Ink, Mineral pigments and gold leaf on mulberry paper, depicting hound and puppies next to a saddle (kura) emblazoned with a karashishi, the saddle mounted with leather pads on a saddle frame. Silk brocade border. Negoro-nuri style red and black lacquer trim, rubbed in places to reveal the black lacquer beneath, pierced copper-gilt trim. From the collection of Edith and Stuart Cary Welch.
