"Blue Magic," 2020 Large Gray and Blue Abstract Painting by Kathi Robinson Frank
-
Description
In "Blue Magic," 2020, a large contemporary abstract painting by Kathi Robinson Frank, the artist literally conjured her gestural creation by painting directly on the raw, un-gessoed canvas with her hands. Oil paint, oil stick and pastel in shades of gray, black, cream, blue and deep orange flicker across the canvas to create a perfectly balanced yet dynamic composition. The work is framed in a hand painted white wood frame.
New York City born Kathi Robinson Frank began painting at an early age. While in high school, she studied at The Art Students League and pursued her passion at Bard College where she graduated with her BA. Her early influences were Helen Frankenthaler, Robert Rauschenberg and Larry Rivers.
Robinson Frank has shown at the Provincetown Art Association, Byrdcliffe Kleinert/James Center in Woodstock, New York, the Bell Gallery in Rhinebeck and Woodstock, the Wired Gallery In High Falls, New York and Casa Morada in Buccerias, Mexico. In 2016 she had a solo show at P.S. 209 Gallery in Stone Ridge, New York and was part of a group exhibition at the 1stDibs Gallery in Manhattan. -
