Description
Richard Geiger was born in Vienna and first studied at the Vienna Art Institute with the academic painter Christian Ludwig Von Griepenkerl and, subsequently, in Paris with Francois Flameng . From Griepenkerl, Geiger learned the rigorous application of anatomical principles, and, from Flameng, he derived his use of a saturated palette combined with a lyrical and bravura brushwork.
After 1893, Geiger lived in Budapest where he specialized in figural and genre painting. He was also an accomplished graphic artist and printmaker. Throughout a long career, Geiger exhibited with success in France, Germany and Hungary. - More Information
