Capitalism Rising. The birth of the greatest economic engine ever created is documented in oil paint as it blossoms towards the sky. It's 1929, and Artist Robert Hallowell secures an aerial view of Wall Street. He's looking down at the Bankers Trust Company Building with its distinctive pyramidal crown. It sports a confident American flag shooting into the sky. The splash of red stripes punctuates the scene's composition of grays and browns. On the left is the already-finished Liberty Tower of 1910 at 55 Liberty Street. To the right, a new tower, perhaps 40 Wall Street, is depicted under construction. The building's grid of steel girders symbolizes strength. One beam is stacked upon another as a defiant expression of progress. In the distance, the Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, and Williamsburg Bridge gracefully span the East River, shimmering in a silver glow.
