A French Aubusson cartoon painting from the 19th century, with floral decor surrounding a cherub populated cartouche. Created to be used as a model to weave a tapestry in the Aubusson manufacture located in central France, this framed oil painting depicts a Rococo style cartouche surrounding a central grisaille style cherub. The ensemble is highlighted by an abundant décor of colorful flowers, so exquisitely depicted that one can even imagine detecting their scent. Secured in a carved frame, this 19th century Aubusson cartoon will enliven any wall beautifully, perhaps hung above a commode, console table or credenza.
