Have We Evolved ? ( Don't, don't hang back with the brutes ! )
-
Description
Have we evolved since 9/11? Are we embarking on the dark march to whatever it is we’re globally approaching? It’s not easy to pose such an emotive philosophical question on canvas; but using the literary reference from Tennessee Williams’ heroine Blanche DuBois and through metaphor and imagery Berlin addresses the complexities of this global issue. He sees a tragedy of brutish masculinity and how it resonates today as countries cast their lot with charismatic (sometimes), macho brutes. Those collectors familiar with Berlins work will be able to read his message loud and clear. For those as yet unfamiliar with Berlin it may be necessary to look closely at the painting and cross refer to his previous Sharp Edge New York City style of Neo-Expressionism and then it will reveal the narrative in detail. Berlins Neo-Expressionist paintings flash and pop with neon colour and there’s real depth in his characters and representations.

White Court Art is based in Wales, U.K and was founded by Richard Veal after many years of collecting for himself. White Court Art specialise mainly in emerging British Contemporary Art, but we also high light artists from Europe, who we think have merit and deserve attention. We have a passion for tracking, sourcing and curating eclectic fine art from Master Copyists to Emerging European talent. We also offer decorative pieces that bring that “something else” to our gallery.
