A Swedish still life floral oil on canvas painting from the late 18th century, painted in the manner of Dutch artist Paulus Theodorus van Brussel. This exquisite Swedish floral painting features a lush bouquet of flowers, displayed inside a gadrooned vase set on a stepped base. This arrangement is placed in front of an arched niche framing the ensemble beautifully. The palette is rich. The exuberance of the colors answers perfectly to the great attention paid to the various details. The stepped base is accented by the presence of mouth-watering fruits, such as pomegranates (a symbol of abundance), grapes, prunes and peaches. This oil on canvas is set inside a carved wooden frame, adorned with egg-and-dart molding. With its rich palette and skilful execution, this Swedish, 1780s still-life piece, reminiscent of the production of Dutch flower painter Paulus Theodorus van Brussel, will enliven any space beautifully.
