Description
Vintage heliogravure after a 1931 photograph by László Moholy-Nagy, one of the leading figures of the Bauhaus and a pioneer of modernist photography and photomontage. The black and white image shows two children lying side by side, their bodies partially framed by the geometric grid of a net casting strong linear shadows, a striking example of Moholy-Nagy’s experimental use of light, perspective, and everyday subject matter.
The print is presented in a contemporary brushed-metal frame with a wide off‑white mat that gives the composition generous breathing room and emphasizes the graphic contrast of the image. The heliogravure is printed on smooth, slightly satin paper; tone is a rich neutral black with a wide range of greys typical of high‑quality early 20th‑century gravure printing.Date of the image is 1931; the print itself is a vintage heliogravure from the same period (not a later reproduction), likely issued in a photographic or Bauhaus‑related portfolio devoted to Moholy-Nagy’s work.
Heliogravure in very good vintage condition, with clean surface and strong tonal range; minor, expected handling or age-related signs only. Frame in very good condition, with light, occasional surface marks consistent with careful display. -
