Description
A hip young black woman in Central Park pauses for a moment of reflection after her roller skate dance. Street photographer, Mithcell Funk, captures her in an off moment of introspection. Magical late afternoon golden light caresses her full form and affirms her life and vitality. This is no grab shot. Mitchell Funk brings the precision of studio photography to street photography with his thoughtful compositions and a distinct color palette. Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of " Color Photography" In 1970 he participated in one the first " Color Photography" shows at a major museum. Brooklyn Museum, show "Images en Couleur" . 1971 Included he was included in the visionary book "Frontiers of Photography" Time Life. Color! American Photography Transformed. Amon Carter Museum . He has had more than 50 Photography Magazine Covers and has had covers on Newsweek and Life Magazine among others.

As an undergrad in painting, he studied with great teachers such as first-generation abstract expressionist Robert Richenburg and hyper-realist painter Janet Fish. In Graduate School he worked with famed critic E.C. Goossen and went on to work as a Photographer, New York Advertising Art Director, and Art Collector.
