Description
An unobstructed view of lower Manhattan from the observation deck of 30 Rock is obstructed by a figure in a solid red hooded jacket. The figure becomes a dominant abstract shape in the composition. That is the point of the photograph. Mitchell Funk shoots a tourist location unlike any tourist photograph. In the left hand corner, the shining steel Art Deco spire of the Chrysler Building emerges from behind the Bauhaus-inspired Walter Gropius Met Life/PanAm Building. Wherever you look, you see the Chrysler Building.
Signed dated lower right, numbered on lr recto. 3/15 printed later, unframed. other sizes available. 40 x 60 . Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper
